Breast Uplift Surgery (Mastopexy)

What does it involve?

Mastopexy is a procedure undertaken when the breast has adequate volume but it has dropped and the position of the nipple is too low (mammary ptosis). Surgery lasts between 2 and 3 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia.

Round Block Breast Uplift
This is a method of breast uplift that does not involve the classic “lollipop” scar  - the incisions are made around the areola only.  It can be used on patients who do not have very pronounced (ptosis) sagging of the breast tissue.

After surgery

Mastopexy not only gives uplift to the nipple and the breast but also achieves a new shape which is more round and youthful looking. In those cases where the sagging is not particularly severe, the resulting scar will be placed around the margin of the areola (nipple), whereas in the case of more accentuated drop/sagging, we will need to add a vertical scar and in very rare cases a short horizontal one in the fold. How long the results lasts depends on the elasticity of the patient’s tissues/skin.

After surgery the patient will need to rest for a week or so, but will gradually go back to normal activities after 2 to 3 weeks.
