Calf Implants

What does it involve?

With the introduction of a silicone implant in one or both of the calves, it is possible to solve the problem of an under-developed calf muscle. The surgery can be performed under either epidural or general anaesthesia and takes approximately 1 hour. The size of the implant is chosen according to the dimensions of the calf and will be introduced through a small incision in the back of the knee which is very well hidden in the posterior fold.

After surgery

Approximately 24 hours after surgery, the patient needs to start resuming light activities/walking around and from the second week can resume a normal daily life. Swelling and tension in the area during the first week is normal, but this generally tends to diminish from the 2nd week.
