Face Lift Surgery

What does it involve?

With a facelift, it is possible to give back freshness to the neck and face that has been lost over the years and new tension to the muscles beneath the skin. The objective is to give a more youthful appearance without looking false or overdone. The surgery is usually performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, during which time we remove the excess of skin and at the same time perform a tightening of the muscles, which will give a longer lasting result.

After surgery

It is possible to experience some bruising and swelling, but this generally disappears in the following 2 weeks. The scars are usually of very good quality and well hidden within the fold of the ear or the hairline. Often, the facelift is performed in conjunction with blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery, and where necessary, can be performed with a brow lift or small liposuction for those patients who have a double chin. Following surgery, the patient will need to wear a dressing which is normally removed after 24 hours and they are usually able to resume a normal social life within 3 to 4 weeks.
