"From the age of 15 I had always had ample up top! But after having two children they had become larger and more uncomfortable over the years. In time this caused me terrible back pain and for my posture to deteriorate due to the fact I was always hunching my shoulders to try and hide them… Coupled with my lack of confidence and the back pain this forced me to change a much-loved career as a professional makeup artist – a job which I loved and was my livelihood.
Aria Medial Group was a name that kept cropping up in conversations with different circles of friends of mine (from all walks of life), my 40th birthday was approaching and I decided that everyone tells me life begins, so what did I have to lose with a free consultation? I completed a form online and a lovely lady, Louise Truelove, contacted me to arrange an appointment for a couple of weeks time.
The HC Hospital is set in beautiful grounds more like a retreat than a hospital, I was greeted by friendly reception staff and shown up to the consulation room, where I met Dr Vricella. I was a bit nervous however he was lovely, very professional and very straight talking, explaining to me more of what could go wrong rather than simply telling me they will look wonderful. He explained the procedure in detail, what my expectations were, what his expectations were; leaving me to decide. He was not pushy at all. He suggested a reduction and uplift.
Louise then spent the next hour or so going over EVERYTHING - from what would happen, if I chose to go ahead, on my admission day to which bras I would need and even to show me before and after photos of Dr Vricella's work. All my questions were answered and more ! She was fantastic and I never felt as if I was being rushed out the door.
I had scheduled my appointment for 3 months time, at the suggestion of both Louise and Dr Vricella, due to the fact I live in Spain and the heat would have made my recovery less comfortable and also, more importantly, for me to be able to lose a bit of weight prior to surgery. When the time came for my pre op tests I arrived at the hospital and had all the relevant blood tests and an ECG test done as well a chest xray, again very thorough and professional.
I then met Damien Moore the Specialist Nurse who from the moment I met him put me at ease, explaining the procedure again, the do's and don'ts, what to expect leading up to theatre and what to do during the post op period. He also said he would be with me in theatre and would be holding my hand as I was going under anaesthetic (which he kept to his word and did ! ) I'm such a baby !
After the surgery I was amazed as I expected to be in so much pain and discomfort but the next day I was out of bed, up and about, walking around, sitting in the grounds of the hospital drinking tea overlooking the gardens. I couldn't believe it. When the bandages came off WOW ! I'm not sure what I was expecting but apart from the obvious lines where the incisions were made they looked amazing - exactly how they were when I was 18 … up there and fabulous!!!!
I was given a prescription to take whilst at home and discharged after 48 hours. At the follow up appointment I saw Damien and Dr Vricella, both seemed extremely pleased with the results, my steri strips were removed and I got to see them properly. Its amazing ! I think I expected to see ugly, red, angry scars (the internet has a lot to answer for !!!) Dr Vricella's work is so neat and precise and it's astonishing how clean and practically perfect they are after such a short amount of time, AND I hadn't had to take any painkillers after the 6th day at home!
If you are thinking of having any procedure done, absolutely go to other clinics for a second consultation - I did and most people would. I say that confidently because once you come to the Aria Medical Group you will know 100% that you have chosen the right group of professionals to take you on your next step of your new life with your new body and looks .
